After discussing bottom up and top down processing I thought really hard about the two concepts. When trying to think of a true bottom-up processing example and could not find one. No matter what, there is some previous knowledge about what we see that we bring to the table with us. The two process are used hand in hand, however like the video says, some people use one process over the other.
At the end of the video he asks which process you use more. After some thought, I have come to the conclusion that I am more of a top down processor, or explore and excite as he puts it. I always look for the bigger picture of things and rely almost always on my gut feeling. To me, things become too complicated when trying to take things piece by piece. To find the bigger picture answers why the pieces fit together without having to take what you are trying to figure out apart. After watching the video, what process do you favor?
