The Miracle Berry

The miracle berry is found in parts of West Africa, but what does it do? If you have ever heard of this berry it can actually alter your taste buds in thinking that sour/savory items are sweeter than they actually are! There is a protein in the berry called miraculin that binds to your taste buds, specifically to the sweet ones. Since the miracle berry is so hard to export to the United States, many companies created an extraction of it. The video above is Jen from tastemade inviting a bunch of people to try various foods while eating the extraction of the miracle berry and their experiences of savory/sour foods. (Also, I went on Amazon and they do carry miracle berry extracts if you want to try at home!)
