Smell and Taste

It is no secret that when food is consumed, taste and smell go hand in hand on your overall experience of eating. Have you ever tried holding your nose while drinking something really yucky, or wondered why your parents always told you as a kid to do so? Well the reason being is because he sensation of flavor is a combination of taste and smell. When you chew your food up, your forcing air through your nasal passages which carries the smell of food along with it. It would be detrimental for someone to lose their sense of smell because food wouldn't taste as good as it should and you would be limited to your basic four taste, sweet, sour, salty, and bitter. Smell also shows a connection with memory. A certain smell can bring back certain memories you have had in the pass with that smell. Its actually really cool what the body is capable of . I have attached the link with further details about the connection between taste and smell, and smell and memory.
