Seeing Under Water
Pupil contraction is an autonomic nervous response. It prevents too much light from getting to the retina. When underwater the pupil dilates to make up for the lack of light. This causes brighter blurred vision. However through voluntary pupil contraction the Moken tribe has the ability to see very clearly underwater while hunting.

ReplyDeleteI never thought that was possible, that is so awesome! If everyone could learn how to do that so many things would be possible. Thank you for sharing that it was every interesting.
ReplyDeleteThis is so interesting. It's strange to me how a certain group or tribe of people are blessed with this unique gift. It's cool to see how constant conditioning of a certain ability, such as pupil contraction, could eventually lead to a natural behavior, as with the Moken tribe.
