Pins and Needles

"Pins and Needles" is a feeling you get in your limbs (usually your hands and/or feet) when a part of your body "falls asleep." Have you ever wondered why you feel this sensation though? The technical word for this feeling is called Temporary Parasthesia, and it is caused by the change in blood flow, as in when you sit on your foot the wrong way and haven't moved it in some time. Oxygen is not getting to your foot fast enough during this time, so as soon as you release your foot to a normal state again, lots oxygen is rushed to the blood in the foot, causing an over-stimulation of your nerves, hence that horrible pins and needles feeling.
