The Miracle Berry

In learning about taste, I was curious about a berry I had heard about a long time a go thats warps taste. In doing some research about it, I came across the Miracle Berry or the berry coming from the Synsepalum Dulcificum plant. Mainly, it is used to perceive foods with a sour taste as having a sweet flavor. It can be used by socieites with limited resources to sweeten their foods and thereby elevating the quality of life by inexpensive means. While the exact processes that take place to change the flavoring of the foods is as of yet unknown, it is thought that the enzymes from the fruit distort the shape of the receptors on the tongue that identify sweetness.
