The vocaloid program was made by Yamaha, and can imitate a singing voice. Think of auto tune, but more advanced. Instead of taking a voice and tuning it to the right notes, this program allows the user to input lyrics and notes on a piano-like interface to come up with their songs. Though the program is not perfect, it does a very accurate job of depicting the human voice. There are even setting to allow vibrato, emphasis on syllables and words, and dynamics of a note. The program has gotten so popular in japan that they have made an entire digital pop star.
