Superhuman: Loud Voice
In the show "Stan Lee's Superhumans", Annalisa Flannagan has a super loud voice that is recorded to reach 121.7 decibels. That is almost as loud as a rock concert or a jet taking off. A chain saw 3 feet away measures to be 110 decibels, and Annalisa's voice surpasses even that. I thought it was interesting that to break the screaming record in the world, the person must shout a word not just scream to hold the record. Screaming would hold a louder decibel than just shouting a word. Her vocal chords are far more powerful than normal. 120 decibels is approaching the pain threshold for most people. In the show there were 7 men chosen to scream and have their voices measured in decibels. The loudest out of the 7 men was recorded to be 112.8 and when Annalisa screamed, she hit 118 decibels. All 7 men screamed together to see if they could scream louder than her and only then did they hit 120 decibels. I thought this was an intersting topic to talk about because it related to the sound section of our lecture and how certain sounds can be damaging to our ears. Annalisa's screaming voice would be damaging to most people.
