Celebrity Face Recognition Test
I took the celebrity facial recognition test on faceblind.org. On the website it is stated that "on the previous version of this test, the average person with normal face recognition was able to recognize about 85% of they were familiar with". Out of 30 celebrities, I was familiar with 20 of them ( which has to do with the fact that I did not know some because they were considered celebrities before my time). Out of the 20 that I was familiar with, I identified 19 of them correctly, resulting in my score of 95% correct, excluding the faces that I did not recognize. I was very surprised at my results. I know that it takes me a few times before I can recognize someone or before I can match their face with a persons name. I feel as though the celebrity facial recognition test does not accurately give people an estimate at how good they are at facial recognition. I believe this because celebrities are not the every day people that we see and interact with. We learn the names and faces of celebrities because we constantly see them in movies, tv shows, magazines, billboard, and on social media. Although there are people that struggle from face blindness, I feel as though the average person should score very well on this test.
