Being color blind is the inability to see certain colors in the usual way. There are a few types of color blindness. Including Tichromacy, Anomolous Tichromacy, Dichromacy and Monochromacy. There are many tests you can take to see if you have any of these color blindness. Here is a video showing a test.
The fact that many people go without knowing they are color blind is incredible! I had done this test with my dad, and surprisingly, he wasn't able to identify that many numbers! It's strange because he would never complain about not being able to distinguish colors but I guess unless you test for it specifically, it might not come up in every day conversation
