Tasting Music and Seeing Red

Right now I'm in a class called Anomalous Experiences. In this class, we discuss the paranormal, mediums, and other things that can't really be explained. Today we started the chapter on synesthesia. This occurs when two of your senses are perceived at once, which means that people can hear a song and taste a certain food at the same time, or see numbers in certain colors.  Most people with this condition care born with it, in fact most people are born with mild synesthesia but it goes away after a few years of life, but there are also ways to learn synesthesia too. I first heard about synesthesia during my junior year of high school when my friend Jessi started about how she saw numbers in certain colors, and I was interested in it ever since.

  1. I have always found this to be a unique phenomenon. In a sense many probably feel that it is a curse. I think that it would be a wonderfully new prospective on life. On the other hand, I have a daughter who is a music major and I suppose it would/could be very difficult for her to practice and perform with others since her perception would be different from the others.
