I couldn't help but think about one of the many clever Geico commercials in reference to the question "If a tree falls in the forest and no one is there to hear it, would there be a sound?" I found this link to view the commercial:

Of course it makes a sound; it's whether or not anyone is around to experience the pressure change in the air.
