Post 2: Inability to feel pain

http://www.ocala.com/article/20100818/ARTICLES/8181009

This post is about a disorder called congenital insensitivity to pain (CIP). This rare disorder is an inherited disorder that effects the nervous system. People who have CIP can not and will never feel pain. Children with this disorder can be at a high risk of severe disease due to not feeling pain. In the article above, an 11 year old girl names Ashlyn Blocker has this disorder. Blocker is part of a study plan at UF College of Medicine where they have been conducting test for six years. They have identified two gene malformations that have caused the short circuits in her brain leading to not feeling pain. Blocker has suffered main injuries throughout her life time without noticing. She broke her ankle but did not feel the pain and her parents had not noticed for a couple of days.

I thought that this was interesting because it is uncommon to hear about someone that does not feel pain.
