Artificial intelligence- Post 2, Jose Quintino
What exactly is Artificial Intelligence ? It is a branch of computer science that aimes to create life like modules that process and synthesis real life functions, emotions and situations. The history of artificial intelligence can be seen as far back as greek mytheology appearing in the Talos of Crete and Pygmalions Galeta. By the 19th and 20th century Artifical Intelligence became the focal point of many science fiction movies. The Idea of life like humanoids seems to create a sence of uneasiness for us, which can be correlated to the natural human process of catogorization. Humans generally see things, specifically objects as black or white, placing them into "boxes" which we can refrence and easily understand, life like modules seem to make lines blurry within this process. One of the biggest achievments in constructing a life like module came in 1997 with the development of Deep Blue; the first computer generated chess similator that beat a reighning chess champion. There are more practical applications of Artificial Intelligence which include systems that organize bed schedules within a hospital, staff rotation and financial trading on the stock market.
