The Stroop Effect

The "Stroop Effect" measures the reaction time of a task. It refers to the naming of colors in a set of words. For example, the word blue is written in red and one is asked to say the color of the word, not the word itself. It is much more difficult that one may think because the brain is so used to connecting the word to the color. The Stroop Effect is much easier for children than adults especially if the child cannot read because they notice the color first where older individuals focus more on the word and the words meaning. Here's a picture of the color test. See how you do!
